Copper Horse Coffee is a new roaster in Ithaca, N.Y.,  founded this past September, and entered their Clock Tower espresso in the Coffee Fest Atlanta competition, and WON!

I was hoping to do well, but I did not expect to win … Everybody was laughing at me because I showed no emotion after we won because I was in shock. – Jesse Harriot, owner of Copper Horse

Harriot is proud to be a small business owner in Ithaca and believes producing a premium coffee, staying small and sustainable, and being able to hire enough people to serve his local market is a great way to support his local community.

The assessment covers 20 different coffee subjects like green coffee grading, roast identification and smell. Zielinski says that the most difficult category of the test was a sweet, salt and sour water test.

So what makes Zielinski so special? Well, along with her extensive knowledge and passion for coffee, her palate and sensory skills are A+!
