I am a professional journalist looking to leave the world of newspapers for another passion.
While I don't have commercial brewing experience, I have been an avid homebrewer for several years. I am looking for a craft brewery to take a chance on a smart, hard working but inexperienced candidate.
I am a quick learner and hard worker, and have moved up quickly in every job I have held.
Due to my background, I could become a well-rounded employee for a brewery looking for help in public relations and communications. While I would prefer the majority of my job to center around brewing, I do have a good understanding of media companies, and have media contacts throughout the northwest.
Education
Studied at the University of Oregon's school of Jounalism and Communication, majored in journalism.
Experience
I am the city editor for a daily newspaper in a city of 56,000 and county of 100,000. We cover a 10-county area throughout eastern Idaho.
As city editor, I manage a staff of four news reporters producing an average of 10 stories per day. Coverage varies from community news to investigative stories to longform features.
In addition to the day-to-day, I work with the other editing staff to plan the longterm outlook for news coverage, and with managers of other departments to shape the company's longterm moves.
Other duties include being in charge of the newspaper's digital strategy, serving as outdoors editor and sitting on a board tasked with deciding how to most effectively use the newspaper's charitable fund.
