Being active and involved is a way of life for me. For me, life is too short to not try to do as much as possible and what may move me at the time.
During the course of the day during the week, I currently work as a quality analyst for an insurance company where I review the phone calls of our sales people and look to help identify opportunities as well as keep down any potential risks for the company. Away from my time in that role, I am a blogger and very involved in social media (Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, Blogger, WordPress, Google+ and of course, LinkedIn). I also at times train salespeople on how to sell and often, I have provided workshops on sales techniques.
I have over 25 years of direct sales experience going back to my days as an account executive for the Daily Athenaeum while a student at WVU. There I earned my Bachelor's in Journalism with an emphasis in advertising and a minor in English. It was that foundation that helped me to succeed not only in sales, but also with communication. I was able to learn about changing perceptions as a way to communicate and to be heard. This is probably one of the most important skills that I have learned as it is one that can be used in a wide variety of situations and circumstances.
It is that skill that has probably helped the most. Even as a volunteer, it helped me on creating social media to help with the re-branding and building up of TEDxCincinnati as well as the Hopkins District Boy Scouts, also here in Cincinnati. It is why I was asked to speak to a salespeople about how to sell, and how I was able to connect with many financial advisors during my roles as a wholesaler (internal and external). And it is why, I can help others looking to strengthen their messages and connect to grow their client base.
