Personal Statement: I have had a personal interest in wine since being introduced to it by my father, who worked for a French aerospace company. I was fortunate to spend every summer in France for the first 15 years of my life. My dad would offer me a sip saying, “Here is a Pomerol,” or, “Try a Chateau Margaux.” Since then, I have lived in two incredible wine regions: Washington State and California, where I continued to cultivate my passion for wines. I have been an entrepreneur and small business owner for the past 18 years in the independent film business. I’m ready to leverage my business acumen, go down a new path and pursue my passion for wine, food and the business aspects of both.
Relationship building: The ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders including artists, venues, film festivals, lawyers, granting organizations, C-level executives, and the general public.
Communication:Strong verbal and written communication skills including extensive public speaking experience spanning various juries, panels and guest lectures at Universities and festivals worldwide (listed below).
Sales/Acquisitions: As President and Founder of Microcinema International acquired and distributed nearly 1400 films since 2000 and increased sales from $50K to $1.3m between 2005 and 2009.
Contract Negotiation:Extensive expertise in identifying opportunities and effectively negotiating mutually beneficial contracts. Acted as Acquisitions Consultant at Atom Entertainment during start-up phase of “Next Generation Entertainment” company distributing short films via the Internet.
Marketing: Self-taught in audience development and marketing of film and art-related events as well as niche and target marketing for retail and wholesale sales of independent film products. Independent Exposure was a fledgling film series, the likes of which hadn’t been introduced to Seattle audiences, so it was critical to develop, build and maintain audiences, publicity, and funding for the success of the series, which ran from 1996 – 2011.
Public Relations: As Publicist for the 45th and 46th San Francisco International Film Festivals developed and implemented publicity strategies for radio, online and traditional press outlets for annual festival presented by the San Francisco Film Society.
